Circuit Boards & Electronic Control Boards
HVAC circuit boards are commonly referred to as electronic control boards and operate as the ‘brains’ of your AC system. In brief, the thermostat (or other sensor) sends a signal to the control board; then the control board sends commands to components in your system to turn on or off depending on the circumstance.
When do boards go bad?
- Due to the complexity of control boards, they may fail in various ways. Common symptoms include:
- -The AC system or blower motor not shutting off.
- -The AC system is turning off and on at unusual times.
- -A smoke or burning smell is coming from the outside AC unit.
